About the Event

The Maryland African Chamber of Commerce (MACC) proudly invites you to the 5th Anniversary of the African Diaspora International Women’s Day (IWD2026) celebration on Friday, March 27, 2026. What began in 2022 under the leadership of former Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks has now grown into a landmark statewide event in Maryland, celebrating the outstanding contributions of African immigrant women and community-based organizations.

A Powerful Gathering

This powerful gathering will spotlight women’s achievements, foster meaningful dialogue, and advance sustainable solutions that empower future generations of African immigrants across the state and the diaspora. With an anticipated audience of over 700 attendees from government, business, nonprofits, education, arts, and faith communities, IWD2026 promises to be a premier event that elevates voices, strengthens networks, and celebrates leadership.

Distinguished Guests

Aligned with the global IWD2026 campaign theme, this statewide celebration will also serve as a call to action for advancing gender equity and accelerating progress for women across all sectors of society. Distinguished guests will include African First Ladies, the African Union Ambassador to the United States, members of the African Diplomatic Corps, and U.S. government representatives.

Highlights & Features

Event highlights will feature a prestigious awards ceremony honoring women of national and international influence, captivating cultural exhibitions showcasing Africa’s rich heritage, and dynamic networking opportunities to connect changemakers and leaders.
